Responsibilities:

Safely operate a school bus along designated routes, following established schedules and safety protocols.

Ensure the safety and well-being of students while boarding, riding, and disembarking from the bus.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and other safety equipment.

Maintain order and discipline among students while on the bus, enforcing school district policies and regulations regarding behavior and safety.

Communicate effectively with school administrators, parents, and transportation staff regarding route changes, delays, or incidents.

Adhere to traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits, road signs, and school bus operation guidelines.

Assist students with special needs or mobility challenges in boarding and exiting the bus, as needed.

Complete accurate records and reports related to daily mileage, student ridership, and any incidents or accidents.

Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance driving skills and knowledge of safety procedures.

Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus interior and exterior, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of high-touch surfaces.

Requirements:

Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements.

Clean driving record with no history of DUI/DWI convictions or serious traffic violations.

Previous experience as a school bus driver or commercial driver preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Excellent driving skills, with the ability to maneuver a large vehicle safely in various weather and traffic conditions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and school staff.

Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for students and promoting their well-being.

Flexibility to work early morning and afternoon shifts, as well as occasional field trips or extracurricular activities.

Knowledge of local roads, neighborhoods, and traffic patterns in the assigned area.
