Responsibilities:

Safely operate a school bus along designated routes, following established schedules and traffic laws.

Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transit to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with safety regulations.

Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and seating areas.

Adhere to established safety protocols, including the use of seat belts and emergency evacuation procedures.

Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, school staff, and transportation officials.

Follow disciplinary procedures and enforce bus rules to promote a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.

Monitor and report any issues or concerns related to student behavior, safety hazards, or bus maintenance needs.

Attend training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.

Represent the school district/company in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Requirements:

Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements.

Clean driving record with no history of serious traffic violations or accidents.

Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.

Excellent driving skills, including the ability to maneuver a large vehicle safely in various weather and traffic conditions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students of all ages.

Commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism in all aspects of the job.

Previous experience as a school bus driver or commercial driver preferred but not required.

Completion of required training and certification programs for school bus drivers (training may be provided)

Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings and afternoon/evening routes.
