Vulnerability Remediation Engineer - Linux Description This role will support the vulnerability management life cycle with a focus on patching, remediating and mitigating vulnerabilities on Linux systems. Responsibilities Conduct vulnerability scans, analyze reports, and validate potential findings Track and provide metrics on vulnerabilities and remediation Patch Linux systems (e.g. Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, RHEL, SuSE, Debian) within on-Prem and cloud environments Provide reports on vulnerabilities, exploits and patches Create risk narratives that explain threat exposure to the enterprise Gather vulnerability and threat information from various internal and external sources Provide technical assistance to owners of the impacted systems and applications to remediate and mitigate vulnerabilities Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualification 3-5 years of hands-on Information Security experience within a Linux environment. Comprehensive understanding of Vulnerability Management capabilities. Extensive experience with vulnerability scanning technologies, e.g. Qualys, Nessus, InsightVM. Extensive experience with web application scanners, e.g. InsightAppSec, Veracode. Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems. Expert knowledge in validating and triaging vulnerabilities. Assertive, proactive attitude to assist with and solve challenging issues. Stays current with new and existing vulnerabilities and related news. Ability to automate and script tasks using Python. experience in a regulated environment, e.g. PCI-DSS, Sarbanes Oxley. Ability to participate in cross functional teams, including remote resources. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science with an Information Security focus. Information Security industry certification, e.g. CISSP, Security +, CEH.
