Job description
Job Title: Sales Executive
Reports to: General Manager
Direct Subordinates: No direct subordinates.
Indirect Subordinates: No indirect subordinates.
1. Duties and Responsibilities:
1.1. Assist in the development and annual review of the 3 year business plan taking into consideration both Company strategy and local economic and development factors and trends.
1.2. Based on the long term business plan, prepares the annual room’s occupancy budget on a timely basis, and develops an annual sales and marketing plan to support the forecasted occupancies and food and beverage revenues.
1.3.To accurately reflect the image of the hotel by optimal conduct an professional attitudes in concentrating sales efforts in those market segments which best reflect the needs of the hotels at a particular time and by effective use of Public Relations and media exposure.
1.4. Monitors performance against the plan and pro-actively makes recommendations for changes to achieve or exceed the forecasted result.
1.5. Measures and directs the efforts of the sales team to achieve the agreed results and ensures the effective use of subordinates calculating added value / profit against time or resources invested.
1.6. Develops and executes tactical promotions for special events and low occupancy periods.
1.7. Ensures the pricing studies are regularly carried out and evaluates the profitability of existing business.
1.8. Maximizes use of all distribution systems and marketing tools and ensures that all subordinates are fully trained in Company programs and procedures.
1.9. Identifies sales opportunities for other hotels and ensures that these are handled in an efficient manner.
1.10. Ensures that customer requests are responded to within the standard time limit of 24 hours.
1.11. Ensures that the hotel sales database is regularly maintained on a monthly basis.
1.12. Personally develops and maintains effective relationships with local community, travel intermediaries and clients to create optimal business opportunities and enhance the brand.
1.13. Negotiates incremental revenue and new business with clients and customers.
1.14. Works with other departmental heads to adapt products and services to client requirements and maintains extensive product knowledge, keeping fully aware of competitor activities.
1.15. Selects new Sales employees who meet or exceed the job specifications according to the Company policy.
1.16. Attends major travel functions and trade shows to promote sales for the hotel and plans and executes sales trips and sales Blitz to major feeder markets.
1.17. Organizes and accompanies Fam / Site inspection trips to the hotel by major clients.
1.18. Regularly reviews the public relations activities to ensure high market awareness of the hotel.
1.19. Keeps all departments informed on sales related issues and ensure that direct mailing is regularly undertaken to the local market.
1.20. Enhance the hotel knowledge and image through proper selected media and marketing / public relations efforts.
2. Self-Management Duties;
2.1. Comply with hotel rules and regulations and provisions contained in the employment handbook.
2.2. Comply with company grooming and uniform standards.
2.3. Comply with timekeeping and attendance policies.
2.4. Actively participate in training and development programs and maximize opportunities for self development.
3. Customer Service Duties:
3.1. Demonstrate service attributes in accordance with industry expectations and company standards to include:
3.1.1. Being attentive to guests.
3.1.2. Accurately and promptly meets guest expectations.
3.1.3. Understand and anticipate guest needs.
3.1.4. Take appropriate action to resolve guest complaints.
3.1.5. Be able to promote the hotel (THE ACT and 72 Hotels) products and services.
4. Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:
4.1. Demonstrate Awareness of Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within H and S guidelines and ensure your direct reports do the same.
4.2. Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
4.3. Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
4.4. Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
4.5. Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel procedures.
5. General Duties:
5.1. Comply with the company corporate code of conduct at all times.
5.2. Familiarize yourself with the company vision and values which link to the model of desired behaviors that all employees are expected to display.
5.3. Perform other tasks at the level of the role as directed by your line manager in pursuit of the achievement of business objectives.
5.4. Have the desire and ability to improve your knowledge and abilities through on-going training.
5.5. Ability to work as part of a diverse team with colleagues from different viewpoints, cultures and countries.
The above tasks are considered to be predominant job tasks; therefore you could be delegated to conduct tasks as instructed and not included in the above.
