Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the state and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
2.Interprets new and existing regulations, advises leadership on technical and regulatory issues regarding the strategic direction of the radiation safety program applies strategic measures as appropriate.
3.Prepares reports and other forms of technical nature, including revising the Radiation Safety Manual and SOP\'s as appropriate.
4.Responds to radiation safety emergencies and prepares and submits required reports.
5.Oversees the use of radioactive materials at the company facilities through the management of radioactive materials licensing, radiation laboratory survey, and radioactive waste management programs.
6.Manages the radiation safety training program to ensure that only authorized, qualified individuals work with radiation; manages the personnel dosimetry program to limit radiation exposure to radiation users and ensure compliance with the policies and regulatory exposure limits.
7.Assists the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of the program/project.
8.Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
9.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

•Bachelor\'s or graduate degree in physical science or engineering or biological science, at least 5 years of similar experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
•Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
•Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
•Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
•Knowledge of federal, state, and local radiation safety regulations, protocols and procedures.
