General Description of the Job;
Perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist attending anesthesiologists, residents and nurse anesthetists in performing anesthetic procedures for patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies.
Tasks & Duties;
Duties and Responsibilities;
Consult Operating Room schedule to determine supply and equipment needs for procedures; prepare anesthetizing locations for indicated procedure to include setting up and calibrating monitoring devices; troubleshoot anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing non-functional equipment to the proper department for repair. Assist anesthesia providers using aseptic or sterile technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral and/or central intravenous and/or arterial line placement; airway management techniques including mask, endotracheal and/or emergency methods and regional anesthesia techniques.
Assist anesthesia providers with physiological monitoring of patients notifying the anesthesia provider(s) of abnormal changes in vital signs and/or physical appearance of the patient.
Clean anesthesia machines, monitors and equipment following procedures established by Infection Control.
Stock anesthesia supplies in all anesthetizing locations including ploss carts, fiberoptic carts, emergency airway bags and any other anesthesia supply location.
Obtain supplies and equipment as requested by anesthesia providers.
Assist with patient laboratory tests and results including, but not limited to, ABG's, ACTs and other point of care tests.
Obtain blood products and pharmaceuticals assisting with preparation and delivery. Maintain immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures. May act as a resource and role model for other anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, learners and other health care team members by providing technical guidance and instruction as appropriate.
May provide verbal and written feedback of interviewees and peers as appropriate and as indicated by supervisor.
May serve as an instructor/facilitator of educational in-services for other anesthesia technicians.
May act as a role model for orientation and training of anesthesia technicians and other health care team members.
May assume anesthesia technician charge role in managing daily work schedule of anesthesia technicians and directing care to provide an efficient and safe environment. .
1- Daily Checking Calibration of anaesthesia machine ventilators, space lab, and related equipment can use all types of Drager Julian plus, endoscope, anaesthesia machines and E.C.G. monitors, Deffibralators.
2- Establish and maintain I/V, apply adjunctive equipment for ventilation and circulation complications.
3- Preparing drugs and labelling syringes as requested by and under the supervision of the Anaesthesiologist.
4- To assist the Anaesthesiologist during induction, maintenance and reversal of anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia, C.P.R. and all related procedures.
5- To accompany the patient from recovery room to the operating room and vice versa with the anaesthesiologist.
6- Document and record preparing.
7- Responsible for maintaining stocks, ordering drugs and consumable materials and preparing purchasing order.
8- Reporting any malfunctions equipment to the Maintenance Department.
9- Supervise other workers in-group unit.
10- Labelling the drugs and fluids.
11- Use of aseptic technique in C.V.P., ARTERIAL and Line insertions.
12- Special preparation for those patients which have hepatitis A, B, C, HIV, T.B., and other chronic diseases.
13- Assistance for airway maintenance, arterial blood gas, line insertion, induction, intubation and extubation.
14- Preparation of code blue, code red, code yellow, flying team and any trauma.
15- Participate in latest research programmes such as symposiums, workshops, short courses and etc.
Knowledge & Experience;
A; Anaesthetic Tech. operating theatres and clinics for anaesthetic procedures. Has assists anaesthetists and prepare for anaesthesia.
B; Has the knowledge and skills to support in the management of critically ill emergency and trauma patients as a trauma & CPR team member.
C; Has the knowledge of Cardiopulmonary resuscition, ventilation, canulation, drug preparation, standard & advanced monitoring, general & advanced airway management (including fibber optic) infusion-pump manipulations.
